HISTORY

For several years the Pacific Beach Town Council Safe and Beautiful Committee has held monthly cleanups. On the first Saturday of every month 20 to 40 volunteers participate in the cleanups. Each volunteer can work from 1 to 4 hours, their choice depending on the demands on their time that day. Volunteers walk streets or the beach picking up litter. Three years ago, we were contacted by a group of students and instructors from the Art Institute of California-San Diego. They were awarded a grant to develop a marketing campaign to engage residents and visitors in actively thinking about litter prevention. After three hard years of work and much planning, CLEANPB evolved to where it is now.
